Lenovo integrates REACHit and Cortana into one giant cross-device search tool - ayalasafteph
Fed up wasting time searching for your files like some sort of 1996-geological era cadet? Are you willing to give up another smidgen of your ever-shrinking privateness for a little more digital public convenience?
Because if soh, golly gee Doctor of Osteopathy Lenovo and Microsoft have a make out for you. Today at Lenovo Tech Earthly concern, the two companies announced a partnership to integrate REACHit and Cortana, allowing Lenovo users moving Windows 10 to search basically every single composition of their digital lives to find some sundry file they'ray nerve-wracking to locate.
Seriously, your integral digital lifespan. Between REACHit and Cortana you'll be able to explore any cloud reposition services you use (Dropbox, Box, OneDrive, Google Drive), email (Gmail, Exchange, and IMAP), and Lenovo Windows 10 devices.
And say so lon to the years of searching past Indian file name. Thanks to the Cortana integration you can for example search for that picture you edited last hebdomad away saying…"Cortana, find that picture I edited go week." Cordate.
From the release:
"For example, a user wants to find a pic that she edited along her Lenovo ThinkPad X1 Carbon laptop last week. Now she can access it while she's away from her laptop at the coffee shop by using her Lenovo ThinkPad 10 tablet. She no more needs to extend to family and work on the laptop. And by using Cortana and REACHit, she doesn't even have to commend the bring up of the photograph charge – just the location where she edited IT, or the date or other piece of relevant information. For example, she could look past saying: 'Cortana, find the film I edited last week along my ThinkPad X1 C.' Or 'Cortana, find the picture I worked happening at Starbucks last hebdomad.'"
Cortana, find the picture I worked on at Starbucks last week. Oregon, much equiprobable, "Cortana, find the Next Great American language Novel I worked happening at Starbucks last week."
We haven't even gotten to the best part:
"We are living in a world where technology has made it easy to amass unprecedented amounts of ain digital content," said Mark Cohen, V.P., Ecosystem and Taint Services, Lenovo. "So so much information that it can be extremely difficult to think where it is stored. What you pauperism is an assistant – a friend – who is always at the ready to help. That is where Cortana and REACHit comes in, enabling people to find their syntactic category content in an incredibly natural way – by asking a Quaker for helper."
A champion. Lenovo wants you to think of Cortana and REACHit as a friend. One World Health Organization, presumably, comes to your house and rifles through all your boxershorts and your medicine cabinet taking a full-of-the-moon stock-take of everything you own then that when you go "I can't remember where I left that Stevie Nicks album" she can belong "It's under your bed in the box labeled 'STUFF FROM Old-hat – Discard.'"
Jokes aside, I'm mangled. On the one hand I'm impressed by the technology seat some these services. And I certainly understand the take for better explore indexing. I let 5TB of storage in my information processing system, most of it full. Determination a file in at this point is like searching for a single leger in a poorly-organized used book store.
Operating room a chain of bookstores, really. Additionally to my desktop I have two laptops, a tablet, and two phones. Yeah, I smel lucky finding anything in this morass of devices.
But on the other hand, there are legitimate privacy concern questions that need to comprise answered. Lenovo's release is light on details, but I imagine for REACHit to work you need to give the company permission to cloud-store a full map of altogether your hard drives—to say nothing of the fact it apparently geotags your documents.
Whether you're willing to allow Lenovo that sort of power—especially in light of the recent privacy-offensive Superfish scandal—is a judgment call you'll have to make.
